Google Meet is making it easier to unmute yourself in the meeting calls just with a button. Here’s how it will work.
Google Meet is a great way of communication and during the pandemic, it has surely proved its true potential. Now, in the hybrid workplace scheme of things, it has retained its value. From attending office meetings from home to online classes for college and school students, Google Meet has become a saviour. But there might have been a number of times, during Google Meets, when you are talking animatedly and someone in the meeting says, “can you unmute yourself?” Yes, very embarrassing. Many get flustered and struggle to hit the unmute button quickly. But that is no more the case! To solve the problem, Google Meet is now getting a smart shortcut that will let you unmute yourself in a jiffy!
A 9to5Google report reveals that Google Meet on its desktop version will soon bring the ability to “hold down the space bar to be unmuted.” This will even help to return you to the muted state while releasing the key. “This will also help in situations where you forget to mute again after unmuting yourself,” the report quoted Google.
Who will get this Google Meet feature
The report further confirmed that the feature has already started rolling out which will be available to all Workspace customers and users with personal Google Accounts in the coming weeks. However, you should note that this mute/unmute shortcut is limited to the Web browsers only. Google confirmed on the blog that all users should have this feature by September 24.
How to use this Mute/Unmute shortcut in Google Meet
All you need to do is hold down the space bar to be unmuted. However, the space bar shortcut will be switched off by default. That means you will need to enable it manually in Google Meet settings.
Not just this, at the beginning of this month, Google Meet had introduced another feature which lets users toggle between mute and unmute while using their headsets, speaker microphones, and other USB peripheral devices. However, this is only limited to Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers.
