WhatsApp is working on a new camera shortcut for a future update. Here is all you need to know about the feature.
WhatsApp keeps on trying and testing new features to make using the app more easier and comfortable for its users. And now as per the latest information, the online messaging application is working on a new camera shortcut. However, what needs to be noted is that the feature will be rolled out in a future update of the app, and the exact date for the same is not yet known. Informing about the same, WABetaInfo tweeted, “WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.19.7: what’s new? WhatsApp is working on a new camera shortcut, for a future update of the app!”
WABetaInfo further informed via a report that WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.19.3 update was released some days back giving the ability to create communities. “When this feature is enabled, it automatically replaces the camera tab with the communities tab so people have a new dedicated place where to find all their communities and the ones they previously joined. But… where is the camera tab? WhatsApp is studying a solution to restore it,” the report said.
The online messaging app is not actually removing the camera tab but it is planning to introduce it again by adding a new shortcut next to the search button in a future update of the app. As usual, the camera will immediately show up when people use this shortcut.
“This is only one of the changes related to WhatsApp Communities that are coming in a future update for more people,” the report said.
Other than this, WhatsApp is also releasing a new header within the list of your archived chats to some lucky beta testers. “Last year, WhatsApp released the new archive, an upgraded version of the feature that lets people keep their archived chats in the archive even when new messages arrive. This feature can also be disabled right within WhatsApp Settings > Chats, but probably some people are still not aware of this setting so WhatsApp wants to highlight it. In fact, WhatsApp is now releasing a new shortcut to archive settings by adding a header within the list of your archived chats,” WABetaInfo said.
The new header within archived chats gives information about the current configuration of your archive. The header can be useful because you can immediately understand how your archive works by reading the text within the header. If you tap the archive header, WhatsApp will redirect you to your archive settings so you can decide if you want to edit how your archived chats are managed from the app.
It can be known that the new archived chat header is also released to some beta users that install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.19.6 update and it has now been rolled out to iOS beta testers.
