Meta to make it easier to switch between Facebook and Instagram.
Meta is testing a new account management feature that will make it easier for users to switch between Facebook and Instagram and create new accounts and profiles on Facebook and Instagram. The feature was announced globally for iOS, as well as Android and web users. The company in its blogpost said that users could even get notifications for both platforms in one place if their accounts are added to the same Accounts Centre. “Today, we are introducing new features that will make it easier for people on Facebook and Instagram to access, create and navigate between multiple accounts and profiles,” reads the official statement.
Switch between Facebook and Instagram with just one tap
According to Meta, the new interface will allow users to create an account with their existing Facebook or Instagram login and use it to sign up for additional accounts and profiles. Users who have Facebook and instagram connected to each other will be able to see both of their accounts under the “Your Profile and Pages” section in the Menu tab.
Additionally, the notifications for both the profiles will also be displayed at one place.
Apart from this, those who are new to Facebook or Instagram can use either of their login credentials to create/access their profiles on the other platform. For example, if you have a Facebook account, you can use its login passwords to create a profile on Instagram. “People who have both a Facebook and an Instagram account can now easily use login information from one app to access the other, as long as their accounts are in the same Accounts Centre,” said Meta.
Meta has also shared that these updates are secured and no one can access profiles on an unrecognised device with two-factor authentication being turned on. Also, users will be notified when a new account is created or added using their existing credentials.
