Tips For Better Gut Health: Add These Five Herbs To Your Diet

They say “health is wealth” and we all agree on this! But, in the middle of the fast-paced life, we, at times, tend to neglect it. From skipping meals to sipping cups of coffee/tea to keep our minds awake, most of us take the body for granted. And, the end result is a poor digestive system. Be it referring to granny’s home remedies or adopting lifestyle changes, we try a variety of hacks for healing the gut. Well, if you are someone who is still struggling to deal with the situation then we must tell you that your search ends here. Nutritionist Lovneet Batra is here to help. The health expert has listed five herbs that can help you heal the gut.

These five herbs can help you heal your gut:

1)Triphala

According to the nutritionist, Triphala is a herbal mixture of three plants including amla (Indian gooseberry), Bibhitaki, and Haritaki. You may have seen a lot of people opting for Triphala supplements on an empty stomach before going to the bed. It’s believed that this relieves constipation and helps in the process of digestion as well. Lovneet has mentioned that Haritaki in trifala is known to support healthy bowel movement and gut health; bibhitaki, which translates to “fearless of disease,” brings a gentle laxative action; and amla helps in making the gut alkaline by balancing the acid levels.

2) Licorice Root

Lovneet stated that licorice is a popular dietary herb that not only supports digestion but also soothes the stomach. It carries a compound called glycyrrhizin, which may help develop a healthy inflammatory response and maintain balanced acidity in the stomach for further comfort and relief.

3) Mint

Right from refreshing mint tea to salads, you can relish mint in a number of ways. Mint has a compound named menthol that helps alleviate IBS symptoms through its relaxing effects on the muscles of the digestive tract.

4) Ginger

Ginger is a power-packed remedy for common cough and flu. This healthy food item also helps one in building immunity and staying strong. The health expert stated that gingerols and shogaols – compounds in ginger – can help stimulate stomach contractions and emptying. Thus, the spice may help with nausea, cramping, bloating, gas, or indigestion also.

5) Aloe Vera

This green herb is considered a natural laxative. The aloe vera leaf innards are rich in compounds and plant mucilage. Topically, they may help alleviate inflammation of the digestive tract.
