Australia started off the innings strongly and took a couple of wickets in the first three overs courtesy of some tight bowling from Jason Behrendorff and Kane Richardson. Both of them were rewarded with a wicket each in their opening spell. After that, they were put under pressure and needed to take a wicket to get back in the game. It was Aaron Hardie who provided it taking the prized wicket of the Indian skipper, Suryakumar Yadav who was prevented from dealing further damage. The excessive number of extras they bowled didn’t help the pressure building up. Hardie was the bowler who was targeted the most while Behrendoff was the most economical again. Surprisingly, Matthew Wade didn’t hand the ball to Marcus Stoinis in their innings and instead of Kane Richardson who had an over up his sleeve, the ball was tossed to Glenn Maxwell for the final over. It was nothing short of a nightmare as the Aussies conceded 30 runs in the final over and now have a mountain to climb.

India had a slow start as compared to the last match as they lost two of their batters early on. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first one to walk back to the pavilion after an unfortunate edge. Ishan Kishan soon followed him putting his team under pressure. Suryakumar Yadav, the skipper took things into his own hands and played aggressively earning the momentum back in their favor. He couldn’t continue his onslaught as he was dismissed by Aaron Hardie but he had got his team back on the front foot. It was Ruturaj Gaikwad’s turn next to play the aggressor role and he completed his half-century with equal support from Tilak Varma. They started throwing their hands at every chance they could find and were rewarded with splendid boundaries. Gaikwad was the pick of the batters and planned out his innings brilliantly as he completed his maiden T20I century in style.
