Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg has pointed out that WhatsApp is more secure than iMessage on iPhones. Know all.
Apple leaves no stone unturned to declare how safe and secure iMessage is, and hence, wants to create the divide with green and blue bubbles. However, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg insists otherwise. In a recent Instagram post, Zuckerberg boldly goes on to say that Meta’s WhatsApp is far more private and secure than iMessage. He does not leave it there; he backs it up with logical reasons. This makes Meta the second company to take a dig at Apple’s iMessage after Google’s aggressive campaign for adopting RCS widely.
“WhatsApp is far more private and secure than iMessage, with end-to-end encryption that works across both iPhones and Android, including group chats. With WhatsApp you can also set all new chats to disappear with the tap of a button. And last year we introduced end-to-end encrypted backups too. All of which iMessage still doesn’t have,” says Zuckerberg in his Insta post.
WhatsApp more secure than iMessage?
Unlike most other messenger apps, WhatsApp relies on end-to-end encryption, thereby offering the most secure messaging experience. With an end-to-end encryption, only the sender and receiver can see the messages. No third party, including even the governments, can intercept the messages.
Moreover, WhatsApp is more widely available than iMessage is. In the recent times, WhatsApp has almost gained the same kind of prominence as SMS, if not more. Businesses now rely on WhatsApp to notify their customers. Unlike iMessage that is only available on iPhones, WhatsApp is available across all kinds of devices and even on the web.
Over the last one year, WhatsApp has even introduced the ability to move their chats and texting data from Android to iOS, and vice versa. The migration is embedded with the official data transfer apps from both Apple and Google.
Other than Meta, Google has been widely conducting a campaign to force people in stressing Apple to adopt the RCS messaging for its Messages app. Google says that it wants to reduce the barrier between green and blue bubbles, and also allow easy transfer of media between the two platforms. Apple’s CEO in an indirect response said that people should get an iPhone if they want the blue bubbles. In comparison, WhatsApp is available on both platforms and has no concept of coloured chat bubbles.
