In a stunning display of chess prowess, Nigerian player Tunde Onakoya played against 10 players simultaneously and ended up defeating all of them. Onakoya shared the video from the event on social media, leaving fans stunned. The event was organised to raise money for the education of children, Onakoya revealed. The entire event lasted for nearly two hours, with Onakoya demonstrating his impressive skills on the chess board. He kept moving around the board, facing each opponent in turn, taking one small step at a time towards victories.

“On day two of the DLD conference, I played a simultaneous chess match against 10 players at once. After an almost two-hour battle of wits, I managed to win all the games. The Chess exhibition helped us raise enough money to support the education of 100 children in our academy,” Onakoya wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The event was organised as part of a fundraising effort aimed at supporting the education of one hundred children through the Nigerian chess player’s foundation, named Chess in Slums. The non-profit organization aims to use chess as a tool for social change, helping underprivileged children by teaching them the skills required to excel in the game. Through this platform, the foundation also teaches children valuable life lessons, including strategy, patience, and resilience.

While Onakoya achieved the desired result through the event, his accomplishment also earned him recognition on social media. Onakoya remains optimistic about the use of chess to bring about social change and the response his initiative got on social media further strengthened his belief.
