Wondering what’s the latest bizarre street food dish making the rounds online? It is a strange fusion of pani puri and ice cream. This experimental creation has only attracted disapproval from desi foodies. When you hear the words “pani puri ice cream,” you might think it’s about stuffing puris with a creamy and chilled filling. Such a strange food combo did indeed go viral, but that was some time back. In the video shared by Instagram user @foodie_bhuro, we see the vendor first placing three puris (used for pani puri) on a flat, chilled surface. They have some kind of semi-solid stuffing – but the exact contents are not clear. The vendor proceeds to pour what seems to be milk on top of the puris. Then, taking two specially shaped spatulas, he starts crushing the puris and combining them with the white liquid. He adds some yellowish syrup on top and continues mixing the ingredients together. He then flattens the ice cream base over the surface in a deliberate pattern. Using the same spatula, he neatly forms ice cream ‘rolls’ and arranges them on a plate. Before serving it to a customer, he places an empty puri at the side and drizzles the rolls with caramel syrup. Watch the complete video below.
