Viral Video Shows ‘Veg’ Pomfret And ‘Veg’ Mutton Korma – Internet Not Convinced

Nowadays, plant-based meats, mock meats and vegan food substitutes are quickly gaining popularity in some circles. People are innovating with flavours, textures and ingredients to come up with vegetarian foods that closely resemble chicken, fish, mutton, etc. While their ingenuity may be commendable, these foods don’t seem to be to everyone’s taste. There are many debates about whether such alternatives can ever truly replace the original. One of the most recent viral videos related to this topic concerns a restaurant in Faridabad. Food vlogger Gaurav Wasan recently visited the place and posted about the unique items available there.

In a reel on his Instagram page (@youtubeswadofficial), the vlogger introduces some of the dishes to the viewers. These include “100% veg pomfret fish,” “veg chicken tangdi,” “veg mutton korma,” “veg tandoori chicken,” “veg butter chicken”, and more. The chefs explain that plant-based meat is used to make these delicacies, and they are meant to taste like the original. According to the caption, one can find these mock meat dishes at Tandoori Hut, NIT, Faridabad. Watch the full video below:

The reel has garnered more than 660K views so far. While a few Instagram users were curious to try such food items, a large majority were not impressed. Many were left unconvinced of the need for and/ or taste of the dishes. Read some of the reactions below:
