But then there are those times when we take a bite and instantly regret it. Now, the latest buzz online is about the “egg halwa”. Yes, you read that right – an egg-flavoured dessert. The internet is divided – some are calling it “delicious” while others are far from convinced by the combination. In a viral video making rounds on Instagram, we see a woman showing us how to prepare this unique dish.

The video starts with the Instagram user cracking nearly 25 eggs into a large bowl, although she recommends using only 6 eggs. She then adds 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of dry milk powder into the mix before blending it all together using an electric whisk, resulting in a yellow, runny mixture. Next, she sautees some cardamom (elaichi) in hot ghee in a pan and pours the egg mixture onto it to cook. She keeps stirring until it thickens and develops a halwa-like texture. She then adds 1 cup of cream to the mix and combines the ingredients until the oil separates. Although first uploaded in February, the reel has continued to make the rounds online. It has sparked mixed reactions on Instagram. Read some of the comments below:
