NASA’s Earth Now app lets you check out the climate data change on Earth in 3D. Here’s how you can use it.
If climate change has you worried and you want to keep up to date about it, then check out NASA’s Earth Now app. It has been created by NASA’s JPL, a research and development lab federally funded by NASA and managed by Caltech. Through this free app, you can explore stunning visualizations of climate change data from NASA’s Earth satellites on a 3-D model of Earth that can be rotated and manipulated for an all-encompassing view of our world’s vital stats.
NASA’s Earth Now application is available on Android’s Play Store as well as Apple’s App Store. The app presents the visualized recent global climate data from Earth Science satellites, including surface air temperature, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, and water vapor as well as gravity and sea level variations. The app description says that “Data sets are visually described using “false color” maps. Color-coded legends are provided to indicate relative strength or weakness of an environmental condition.” The app also provides descriptions of the background information on each data set.
To make the app interactive, the resulting 3D model of the Earth can be rotated by a single finger stroke, and you can also zoom in or out by pinching with 2 fingers. It was developed by the Earth Science Communications and Visualization Technology Applications and Development Teams at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, with support from NASA Headquarters.
The app has more than 1 million downloads on Play Store and a 4.2 rating. While Earth-Now app has a 4.6 rating on the App Store.
