“This Debate Is…”: Mohammad Amir Opens Up On Speculations Of His International Comeback | Cricket News

Star Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir has once again spoken on the speculations of his comeback to international cricket. The left-arm pacer called time on his international cricket career in 2020. While the entire cricket fraternity was shocked on his early retirement, Amir then clarified that he took the decision due to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management’s poor behaviour towards him. He said that that he came to the decision based on how some members of the board kept on going about his decision to not play Test cricket.

Ever since the change of the then PCB management, speculations have been rife that Amir could make a comeback to international cricket. However, the pacer has clarified that he has no plans to take a U-turn from retirement.

“Honestly, straightforward for me this debate is closed. No chance for now. Nobody is certain about life but for me this (a chance of an international comeback) is no more a question. I am out of the international circuit for the past three years and I don’t think I will be making a comeback,” said Amir while replying to a query from NDTV during a media interaction.

Amir currently plays for Desert Vipers in ILT20. The Desert Vipers have kept sustainability at its core with initiatives that help reduce carbon emission and create a cleaner environment.

Amir recently took a sly dig at ex-teammate Mohammad Rizwan over the latter’s comments on how breaking his opening partnership with Babar Azam has hurt the national side in T20Is.

Following Pakistan’s loss in the 4th T20I match against New Zealand, Rizwan said that the opening partnership with Saim Ayub has not worked out and the decision to not play Babar as an opener has proven to be costly. However, Amir took to social media to weigh in on the matter and without taking any name, he asked people to support youngsters and not judge them.

“Bhai jaan khud 4 saal maze kiye hain bachon k 4 matches k failure se khuch hurt ni hwa jab different cheezen try ki jati hain un ko time dena parta hai bara simple hai (Brother, you had fun for four years. No one is getting hurt if youngsters fail for four games. When you try new things, you need to give them time. It’s that simple),” Aamir wrote on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
