New satellite shares STUNNING photo of Earth

[ad_1] The European Space Agency (ESA) launched its Meteosat Third Generation Imager (MTG) satellite on December 13, 2022. ESA stated that the weather satellite can “revolutionize weather forecasting and enable more precise monitoring of our changing atmosphere, land, and oceans” at the time. The satellite recently became operational and it has now shared its first-ever photo of the Earth and it showcases the stunning details over Europe, Attica, and the Atlantic region.Sharing the spectacular image, ESA said, “The image, which was captured by the satellite's Flexible Combined Imager on 18 March 2023, shows much of Northern and Western Europe and Scandinavia blanketed in clouds, with relatively clear skies over Italy and the Western Balkans”. Asteroid hunting Lucy looks back at Earth from space! NASA shares astounding photo

[ad_1] The amazing cameras on NASA’s asteroid hunting Lucy spacecraft have captured captivating images of Earth. Whenever we mention the word Earth, the image that pops up in our mind is of a round blue planet hanging in space. However, NASA's Lucy spacecraft, designed to explore asteroids near Jupiter looked back at Earth and captured captivating images of our home planet and Moon. The color? All in grey. Informing about the same, NASA's Earth Observatory said, "A spacecraft designed to investigate ancient asteroids near Jupiter will reach those distant targets with a little help from Earth. NASA's Lucy spacecraft is using Earth's gravity to help propel it beyond Mars. In the process, its cameras have captured captivating images of our home planet." The Terminal Tracking C...

South Korea’s lunar orbiter Danuri sends photos of Earth, Moon

[ad_1] South Korea's first-ever lunar orbiter Danuri has sent black-and-white photos of the Moon's surface and Earth, the national space centre said Tuesday. Danuri -- a portmanteau of the Korean words for "Moon" and "enjoy" -- was launched on a SpaceX rocket from the United States in August 2022 and entered lunar orbit last month. Its images -- taken between December 24 and January 1 -- show the lunar surface and Earth, and were shot from less than 120 kilometres (75 miles) over the Moon, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) said in a statement. The images and videos will be "used to select potential sites for a Moon landing in 2032," it added. Danuri is circling the Moon every two hours, the centre said. The orbiter will begin its scientific mission next month, whic...

We get pictures of Earth every day from satellites and the International Space Station. But there's something different about seeing ourselves from the other side of the Moon. How does this image compare to other iconic views of Earth from the outside?EarthriseIn December 1968, three astronauts were orbiting the Moon to test systems in preparation for the Apollo 11 landing. When they saw Earth rise over the lunar...
