On Facebook and Instagram, Meta Touts New Way for Small Advertisers to Avoid Apple’s Fees

[ad_1]  Meta Platforms Inc. released new guidelines for small businesses that advertise on Facebook and Instagram, aiming to help them get around fees imposed by Apple Inc. Meta is advising the companies to buy ads through a web browser, rather than on the Facebook or Instagram iOS apps, according to guidance released Thursday. That will help them avoid an Apple commission that Meta said would take effect this month.  Apple's new policy requires advertisers to make an in-app purchase whenever they pay to “boost” social media posts — a move that gives them more exposure. Apple takes a cut of as much as 30% on in-app purchases in its iOS software, meaning that Meta will lose a portion of its ad revenue to the iPhone maker.  We are on WhatsApp Channels. Click to join. The policy change was...

X CEO writes memo to staff on Elon Musk abuse-laden rant in interview

[ad_1] X Chief Executive Officer Linda Yaccarino, who oversees the social network's relationships with advertisers, sent a memo to employees signalling her support of owner Elon Musk after his incendiary comments insulting brands that have backed away from the platform.“Our principles do not have a price tag, nor will they be compromised — ever,” Yaccarino wrote Thursday, a day after Musk told former advertisers including Walt Disney Co. to go “f—-” themselves. “No matter how hard they try, we will not be distracted by sideline critics who don't understand our mission.” Musk at Wednesday's DealBook conference flung expletives at advertisers who had paused their campaigns in protest of his posts earlier this month supporting an antisemitic conspiracy theory, in which he agreed that Jewis...

[ad_1] Elon Musk, speaking at the New York Times' DealBook Summit, gave a shocking declaration to advertisers that have stopped showing ads on X (formerly Twitter) and are leaving the platform, telling them to stop advertising and that they were blackmailing the X owner “with their money”. Musk's defiance also came without any restraints as he used expletives multiple times in the conversation telling brands responsible for boycotting the platform such as IBM, Disney, Comcast, and others to go away and that people will be the judge if X shuts down due to advertisers' money. As per a video by CNBC Television's YouTube channel which posted the entire exchange, the billionaire entrepreneur was asked by the interviewer Andrew Ross Sorkin, financial columnist at the New York Times about the r...

Bill Ackman defends Elon Musk after backlash over antisemitism

[ad_1] Hedge fund manager Bill Ackman defended Elon Musk after major advertisers pulled ads from social media site X over antisemitic commentary. Musk received backlash after he agreed with a post that said Jewish people hold a “dialectical hatred” of white people. “You have said the actual truth,” the billionaire owner of X posted on Wednesday.  That prompted criticism from the White House and shareholders of Tesla Inc., Musk's only publicly traded company, with some investors saying he should be suspended from his position as chief of the electric carmaker. Advertisers from Apple Inc. to Walt Disney Co. have also suspended or halted spending on X.  Ackman, who is chief executive officer of Pershing Square Capital Management, is worth roughly $2.2 billion, according to Bloomberg's Bill...
