Apple Spatial Audio comes to Mercedes drivers with the latest Apple Music update. Check out the supported cars.

If you love Apple’s Spatial Audio on your iPhone and supported audio gear, there’s good news for you, if you are driving a Mercedes Benz. Apple is bringing its Spatial Audio tech to vehicles now, starting with Mercedes Benz cars. Spatial Audio along with support for Dolby Atmos audio will be available natively to Mercedes Benz vehicles for the first time. The Spatial Audio support will be a part of the car’s MBUX platform.

As part of the update, Apple Music with Spatial Audio comes integrated into the MBUX infotainment system in Mercedes-Maybach car models. These models include the Mercedes EQS and the EQS SUV, the EQE and the petrol powered Mercedes S-Class. Apple says that drivers and passengers of these vehicles will get a “studio-quality sound better than in any concert hall, and giving drivers a fully immersive listening experience with unparalleled, multidimensional sound and clarity.” Sounds interesting

Apple Spatial Audio coming to Mercedes

If you are one of the lucky few who gets to drive one of these swanky Mercedes vehicles, you don’t need to visit the service center or your nearest Apple store. “Mercedes-Benz drivers who are already subscribed to Apple Music gain immediate access to an ever-growing selection of songs and albums available in Spatial Audio,” says Apple.

For those in the unknown, Spatial Audio is simply the concept of surround sound that expanded to all Apple products. Enabling it creates a sense of space, clarity, and depth to the music. Spatial Audio is supported on iPhone, iPad, Macs, AirPods and Beats products with H1 and W1 chips.

For those who don’t have a Mercedes Benz to drive, the easier way to experience that is through Apple audio gear. The recently launched AirPods Pro 2nd Gen supports Spatial Audio and so does the AirPods 3rd Gen as well as the AirPods 2nd Gen and the AirPods Max. In our review of the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, we found it to create an exciting experience, especially with Apple Music. Apple Music curates a list of all tracks that support the Spatial Audio effects.

What remains to be seen is how rival Samsung takes it up, given that it has its own 360 Audio enabled on Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro supports 360 Audio on compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
