Samit Dravid, son of India head coach Rahul Dravid, played some impressive strokes on Day 1 of Karnataka’s tour match against Lancashire at the KSCA Stadium in Alur. Samit scored 25 off 45 balls to help Karnataka post 356 on the opening day of the practice match. Samit, however, caught the attention of cricket fans with a perfectly executed square cut which had shades of his father Rahul. On the first ball of the 26th over, Lancashire spinner Joshua Boyden bowled a short delivery to Samit, who transferred his weight to the backfoot and slashed a boundary past point.

Samit was eventually dismissed by Jack Morley following a sharp catch by Luke Wells at first slip.

Morley’s delivery pitched on middle, turned slightly away from Samit, who was beaten by the bounce on the ball, which kissed his gloves and went straigt to Wells.

Coming back to the match, Lancashire won the toss and opted to bowl in their pre-season match against Karnataka.

Samit had come out to bat after the hosts were reduced to 62/3. He started off cautiously but kept the scoreboard ticking before Morley got the better of him.

However, it was Smaran Ravi who stole the show for Karnataka on Day 1. He scored 111 off just 153 balls to help his team cross the 300-run mark.

Hardik Raj played second fiddle to Ravi, smashing 67 off 74 balls before perishing.

Karnataka were bowled out for 356 on the stroke of stumps on Day 1.

For the unversed, Lancashire are in India for a 10-day preparatory camp ahead of the new English county season. Jofra Archer‘s county side Sussex are also in Bengaluru to play a few practice games.
