Ola S1 Air has been officially announced and the prices are tempting. At a price of Rs. 84,999 for the base variant, the Ola S1 Air takes on the Honda Activa, which is the country’s popular petrol powered scooter. Hence, it could be tempting for many buyers in the country to opt for the Ola S1 Air over any similarly priced petrol scooter in the country . The question, however, that many are asking is this: what is the difference between the Ola S1 Air and the Ola S1?
The Ola S1 was announced back in August 2022 as an affordable variant of the Ola S1 Pro electric scooter. The Ola S1 launched at a price of Rs. 99,999, and for many willing to spend around Rs. 1 lakh on a scooter, it too makes sense. Hence, you could be wondering whether you should settle for the base model Ola S1 Air, or spend some more and get the Ola S1.
We take a quick look at the basic specifications of these scooters and here is what you need to know.
Ola S1 Air vs Ola S1
Design:
The Ola S1 Air looks visually different from the Ola S1. The Ola S1 Air has dual-tone paint with black plastics, steel wheels, a flat floor and narrow section wheels. The S1 Air also gets steel grab handles only instead of the Aluminium handles on the Ola S1. The Ola S1 looks better with a full body coloured panels and alloy wheels.
Battery and Range:
The Ola S1 Air can go up to 90 Kmph top speed and has a tested range of 101 Kms. The S1 Air can do 0-40 Kmph in 4.5 seconds. It uses a 4.5 kW motor and is assisted by a 2.5 kWh battery.
The Ola S1 can do 95 kmph of top speed and has a tested range of 141 Kms. The S1 can do 0-40 Kmph in 3.8 seconds. There’s a 8.5 kW motor that is assisted by a 2.97 kWh battery.
Charging time:
The Ola S1 Air comes with a 500W charger that can charge the scooter fully in 4.5 hours. The Ola S1, on the other hand, comes with a 750W charger and takes 5 hours to fully charge the battery.
Smart features:
Both the Ola S1 and Ola S1 Air feature the same 7-inch touchscreen display with an Android based software, called Move OS. Both will be updated to Move OS 3 soon. Both scooters get the basic features such as navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, two riding modes, reverse mode, OTA updates, remote boot unlock, and more. Sadly, they miss out on Cruise Control and the Hyper Mode.
Mechanical features:
The Ola S1 Air has narrower 90/90 section tyres with 12-inch steel wheels, drum brakes with software based combined braking system, twin fork front suspension and dual shock rear suspension, a kerb weight of 99 Kg and 34 litres of boot space.
The Ola S1 has wider 110/70 section tyres with 12-inch wheels, disc brakes, mono shock rear suspension and single for front suspension, a kerb weight of 121 Kg and 36 litres of boot space.
