Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will host Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 21st match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, April 7. Led by KL Rahul, LSG will be high on confidence after beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 28 runs in their previous game.

Having registered two wins and one loss, LSG are currently placed fourth in the IPL 2024 standings with four points.

On the other hand, last season’s finalist Gujarat Titans will aim to bounce back after suffering a three-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their last match.

With two wins and as many losses, GT are currently seventh in the IPL 2024 standings.

Ahead of a mouth-watering clash, we look at the predicted XIs of both sides.

LSG Predicted XI

Quinton de Kock

LSG’s swashbuckling opener Quinton de Kock has been in scintillating form this season. The southpaw has already amassed 139 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 140.40.

KL Rahul (captain/wicketkeeper)

Lucknow Super Giants’ captain KL Rahul has looked in decent touch in IPL 2024 so far. The wicketkeeper-batter has scored 93 runs in three innings and will look to score big against GT on Sunday.

Devdutt Padikkal

Young Devdutt Padikkal has struggled for LSG in the ongoing edition of the IPL. Batting at No.3, Padikkal has managed just 15 runs in three matches. He will look to return to form against last season’s finalist in Lucknow.

Nicholas Pooran

Flamboyant West Indies cricketer Nicholas Pooran has been the standout batter for Lucknow in IPL 2024 so far. Pooran has slammed 146 runs in three innings at an impressive strike rate of 175.90.

Marcus Stoinis

Australian star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis hogged the limelight with his brilliant performances for LSG last season. Stoinis scored over 400 runs and bagged five wickets in 15 matches. He is yet to fire with both bat and ball in the ongoing season.

Deepak Hooda

Indian all-rounder Deepak Hooda is expected to replace out-of-form Ayush Badoni in LSG’s starting XI against GT on Sunday. Since his IPL debut in 2015, Hooda has scored 1,346 runs in 108 matches, including seven fifties. He has also scalped 10 wickets in the IPL.

Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya has produced a few lacklustre performances for LSG in IPL 2024 so far. However, the LSG team management is expected to back Krunal, who has picked up 70 wickets and amassed over 1,500 runs in 116 IPL matches.

Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi could be the wrecker-in-chief for LSG against a star-studded GT batting line-up. While Bishnoi has bagged just a solitary wicket in three matches, the leg-spinner has the qualities to trouble any batter. He will look to return to form in Lucknow.

Yash Thakur

Yash Thakur is expected to retain his place in LSG’s playing XI due to the injury to their star left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan. Thakur was expensive against RCB, having conceded 38 runs in his four overs. He will aim to produce a better performance on Sunday.

Naveen-ul-Haq

Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been LSG’s pace bowling spearhead in IPL 2024. The 24-year-old has scalped four wickets in three matches at an average of 27.25.

Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav has grabbed the headlines after he bagged back-to-back Player of the Match awards in LSG’s previous two fixtures. The right-arm pacer has already picked up six wickets at an average of 6.83 and an economy of 5.12.

Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan has been one of the standout batters for GT in the ongoing IPL. The left-handed batter has scored 160 runs in four matches at an average of 40 and a strike rate of 128.

Shahrukh Khan

Hard-hitting Shahrukh Khan could replace struggling Vijay Shankar in GT’s playing XI on Sunday. Earlier, Gujarat roped in Shahrukh for a whopping INR 7.4 crore at the IPL 2024 auction in December. Since his IPL debut in 2021, Shahrukh has scored over 400 runs in 33 matches.

Rahul Tewatia

Rahul Tewatia has been an integral member of Gujarat Titans’ playing XI since 2022. Tewatia once again showed glimpses of what he is capable of after he slammed an unbeaten 23 off just eight deliveries against Punjab to power GT close to 200 in their allotted overs.

Azmatullah Omarzai

Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai has featured in all four matches for GT this season. Omarzai has bagged four wickets and also scored 28 runs so far. He could play a pivotal role against LSG.

Rashid Khan

Star leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been a match-winner for Gujarat Titans since 2022. The Afghanistan cricketer has already picked up 143 IPL wickets in 113 matches. In IPL 2024, Rashid has claimed four wickets and will look to add to his tally on Sunday.

Noor Ahmad

Young Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad was once again impressive for GT in their previous game. The 19-year-old left-arm spinner dismissed Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh to finish with figures of 4-0-32-2 against Punjab. Noor could trouble the LSG batting line-up.

Umesh Yadav

Pacer Umesh Yadav has been a wicket-taker for the Titans in IPL 2024. The right-arm fast bowler has already scalped four wickets in as many matches and will aim to pick early wickets against LSG on Sunday.

Darshan Nalkande

Darshan Nalkande was given the final over against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad. Defending six runs, right-arm pacer Darshan Nalkande bowled brilliantly to keep the Titans in the game before PBKS won in the penultimate ball. He is expected to be given another opportunity against LSG.
