England are in complete control of the proceedings in ongoing 4th Test against India at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. On Day 2, the visitors were bowled out for 353 after Joe Root‘s ‘Bazball’ defying century. Root remained unbeaten 122 off 274 balls. In response, India had already lost more than half of its batters before stumps. However, fans were quick to spot an intriguing incident involving England captain Ben Stokes and on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena. The incident took place before the final ball ahead of Tea.

As the stump mic was unable to record Stokes’ chat with umpire Dharamasena, fans were quick to speculate the reason behind their animated chat.

Here’s how internet reacted:

Even the commentators weren’t too sure about Stokes’ decision to have a conversation with Dharamasena, but it probably was regarding the weather and lights.

It had become dark in Ranchi owing to overcast conditions throughout Day 2 and the floodlights had to be switched on due to low visibility.

Dharamasena handled the situation calmly and signalled for Tea after the final ball of the 38th over.

India reached 219 for seven at stump, trailing the visitors by 134 runs here on Saturday.

England were all out for 353 in their first innings earlier in day, having resumed from their overnight score of 302 for seven.

In-form young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored in the home team’s first innings with a 73 off 117 balls.

Dhruv Jurel (30) and Kuldeep Yadav (17) were unbeaten at stumps, having helped India recover from 177 for seven.

Among England bowlers, off-spinner Shoaib Bashir shone the most and ended the day with figures of 4/84.
