Feel safer with iPhone 14 crash detection? Good news! iOS 16.4 to make it better

Apple iPhone 14 Crash Detection feature is on by default courtesy iOS 16. The feature allows the iPhone to detect a severe car crash and connect you to emergency services and notify your contacts. However, there have been certain instances when the feature triggered an influx of false calls from skiers and snowboarders in several US states and Canada. And now, with the upcoming iOS 16.4 update, Apple is expected to bring additional crash detection optimizations for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models to get rid of the glitches as well as to add enhancements.

Informing about the same, a report by MacRumors said, “iOS 16.4 includes additional Crash Detection optimizations for all iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models, according to Apple’s release notes for the software update, which is expected to be released to the public as early as next week.”

Notably, Apple has not yet provided any specific details about the optimizations, but the company has been working to improve Crash Detection after emergency dispatchers in several U.S. states and Canada complained about the feature triggering an influx of false 911 calls from skiers and snowboarders throughout the winter, the report further added.

After the release of 1OS 16 in 2022, Apple has been releasing updates regularly.

Apart from crash detection, iOS 16.4 is expected to bring several new updates and features to your iPhone. Ever since the first beta, many new features for the iOS 16.4 have been revealed including changes to Apple Podcast, new emojis and web push notifications.

So, here is what you can get with the iOS 16.4 update.

  • Apple Books: After it was removed in the previous iOS update, iOS 16.4 beta 2 update has now brought back the curling page-turn animation which gives the users the feeling that they are turning a real book.
  • Mastodon links preview: When using the Messages app, users will see a rich preview of Mastodon links. For the unaware, Mastodon is a social media platform which is similar to Twitter.
  • Music app interface: Users will now see queued songs appearing in a small banner towards the bottom of the app instead of a full-screen pop up.
  • Focus mode on always-on display: iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max users, the iOS 16.4 beta version allows enabling the always-on display with certain focus modes.
  • New Siri voices: It was earlier revealed that the keyboard is getting new language support for Korean, Ukrainian, Gujarati, Punjabi and Urdu but it turns out that even Siri will be getting new voices as Apple adds more languages.
