“Even If He Has A Very Good IPL…”: Zaheer Khan’s Massive Verdict On Rishabh Pant’s T20 World Cup Chances | Cricket News

Former India pacer Zaheer Khan has passed a massive verdict on the chances of star batter Rishabh Pant for the T20 World Cup 2024. The mega event kicks off on June 1 in USA. Meanwhile, Pant, who is on the road to recovery, is out of competitive action for more than a year now. If he manages to become match-fit in time, Pant will only be having the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season to prepare and put himself in contention for the world event in June.

Zaheer is of the opinion that the selectors might think not include the player for the T20 World Cup 2024 even if he performs well in the upcoming IPL season.

“If you see Rishabh Pant’s journey, the turn he has gone through is not easy for any player. Firstly, everyone who is attached to cricket will be happy once he comes back on the field. He has a lot of hurdles to cross,” Zaheer told during a discussion on Colors Cineplex as quoted by Sportskeeda.

“Firstly, he has to come back and play. It’s not easy at this level. You need to get used to it and get the rhythm back. Those things might take time. It’s great if it doesn’t. However, keeping all things in mind, even if he has a very good IPL, I don’t think the team will be thinking in that direction,” he added.

Amid the ongoing speculations over a possible return of Rishabh Pant for his team Delhi Capitals in the 2024 season of the IPL, team’s top official, PKSV Sagar on Friday broke silence on the star player’s return.

Pant has been sidelined since a car accident in December 2022, but the wicketkeeper batter is making a great recovery and is likely to return to the pitch this year.

Sagar said they are hoping that India’s wicketkeeper batter will soon make a return and play in IPL 2024. Pant has represented DC since 2016 and scored 2,838 runs in 98 matches at an average of 34.61 and a strike rate of over 147, with a century and 15 fifties to his name.

“Yes, we are hoping for the best we can expect that he will play this season. He is the biggest player…..if he plays then it will be good for us. Our coaches and physio are doing work on him and the best part is this he is recovering very well. We hope by March he will fit and play for us,” Sagar told ANI in ILT20.
