Don’t Know What To Do With Burnt Milk? Fix It With These Easy Tips

Boiling milk is a common task that many of us do daily. However, sometimes we tend to forget about it on the stove and end up with burnt milk. Burnt milk not only has an overpowering smell but also an unpleasant taste, making it hard to consume. In such a situation, most of us would choose to throw away the milk or feed it to the strays. Instead of wasting it, here are some simple hacks to get rid of the burnt milk smell and taste using basic ingredients found in your kitchen.

If you’re new to the kitchen and wondering how to figure out whether the milk is burnt, here’s how you can tell. When the milk starts to rise above, it means it has boiled. Where as milk with pungent smell , large bubbles, and slightly yellow in colour is considered to be burnt.

Easy Tips To Fix Burnt Milk:

1.Change the Utensil

The first step is to transfer the burnt milk to a fresh bowl or pan. Keeping the milk in the same utensil will not only change its taste but also leave a pungent smell.

2. Use Cardamom

Cardamom, also known as elaichi, is extremely fragrant, and adding it to the milk will lessen the burnt smell. All you have to do is boil the milk in a fresh pan, make sure you keep it on low flame. Now crush 4-5 cardamom and add it to the milk, give it a good boil. Now turn off the stove and cover the pan with a lid.

3. Add Cinnamon Powder

We can easily find cinnamon sticks in our kitchen. Also called dalchini, it gives a subtle sweet taste to the food. Cinnamon has an earthy aroma which will overpower the smell of burnt milk.

Just boil 1 big cinnamon stick with milk, or half tsp of cinnamon powder, and let it sit for 2-3 minutes.

4. Mix With Jaggery

We all love sweet milk, don’t we? Instead of adding sugar later to the milk, just add jaggery powder to the milk and make a sweet latte with it. You can use 1 tablespoon of jaggery powder and boil it with milk for 2-3 minutes. Avoid boiling it on high heat.

5. Consume It ASAP

Avoid storing milk in refrigerator. If you keep burnt milk in the fridge, it will only spoil it more and lessen the chances of being edible. The burnt taste will increase with time and there will be no way to fix it. So, it’s best suggested to have milk the same day itself.

Note that it’s okay to have slightly burnt milk, but if the milk has burnt too much, its best not to use it as it may lead to digestive problems.
