How will 5G change life in India? Here are all the benefits that you need to know.
Heralding a new era of connectivity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 5G services in India today at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during the sixth edition of the India Mobile Congress. India is the second-largest telecom market in the world after China, and now 5G services will benefit around 98 percent of the population who already have access to telecom via mobile phones. “Today, 130 crore Indians are getting a wonderful gift in the form of 5G from the country and from the telecom industry of the country. 5G is a knock on the doors of a new era in the country. 5G is the beginning of an infinite sky of opportunities. I congratulate every Indian for this,” PM Modi said during the event.
Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani, Bharti Enterprise Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, and Aditya Birla Group chief Kumar Mangalam Birla expressed their positive views on the 5G launch in India. Notably, the fifth generation of wireless technology will provide higher speed, lower latency and greater capacity than 4G LTE networks, but there are way bigger impacts of 5G services in India. Here’s how 5G will benefit everyone in India.
Benefits of 5G in India
- The Government of India explained the benefits of the 5G network. It says, “5G technology will offer a wide range of benefits to the common people. It will help in providing seamless coverage, high data rate, low latency, and highly reliable communications.” Moreover, 5G will increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency.
- It is said that 5G technology will help in connecting billions of Internet of Things devices while providing higher quality video services with mobility at high speed. Theoretically, the internet speeds on 5G could touch 10 Gbps at its peak, while 4G has a peak speed at the 100 Mbps peak of 4G.
- Not just that, it will provide delivery of critical services such as telesurgery and autonomous cars among others.
- Other sectors: 5G will also help in real-time monitoring of disasters, precision agriculture, and minimizing the role of humans in dangerous industrial operations such as in deep mines, offshore activities etc.
However, you should note that to use the full potential of the 5G network, your smartphone device or the smartphone should be 5G ready.
