Former England pacer Stuart Broad was as stunned as any cricket lover on social media as the pictures and videos of Jasprit Bumrah‘s stumps-crushing yorker to Ollie Pope surfaced on the internet. The delivery, dubbed by many as one of the finest in the history of the game, had England star Pope wondering what could he have done to prevent the ball from hitting the stumps. Even Broad, who recently retired from international cricket, left a one-word reaction on the picture of Pope’s shattered stumps.
“Iconic”, read the post from Broad as the world of social media went ga-ga over Bumrah’s stunning delivery.
“Subtle reverse swing is the most dangerous weapon in the game. It’s not always used so spectacularly though,” Broad wrote in another post.

After the end of the day’s play, Bumrah spoke about the delivery to dismiss Pope.
“I think that also happened against England (the manner of dismissing Pope). Ollie Pope was my 100th wicket. That was the phase when the ball was reverse-swinging at The Oval. I wanted to bowl a length ball, but I changed my mind and went on to bowl a yorker. The execution was also good. It did swing a lot. Happy with it,” said Bumrah.
On the delivery to dismiss England skipper Stokes, Bumrah said he had not planned the way that incident unfolded.
“That was one delivery I had not planned. I had bowled an outswinger but the ball did not swing and went straight to the arc,” said Bumrah.
Bumrah’s love for Test cricket isn’t hidden from anyone and the pacer said that he wants to be a part of red-ball cricket for as long as possible.
“This format is very dear to me. I wanted to do this. I want to play in this format for the longest period of time,” he added.
Courtesy of Bumrah’s heroics, India managed to bowl England out for 253 runs, with the marquee pacer claiming 6 wickets.
