Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant is one offence away from being banned for a game in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pant has already copped two fines for a slow over rate in the season and a third infringement would’ve seen him being banned for a game. The 26-year-old dodged a massive bullet on Friday during the game against the Lucknow Super Giants. DC were behind on the over rate until the 16th over but made up for the lost overs.

They had five fielders fielding outside the inner circle in the final, which suggests that they made up for the lost time.

According to the rules, If a team is found to be behind the over rate during a game, they are penalised and can have only four fielders outside the inner circle instead of the usual five.”

As per the IPL Playing Conditions, the captain is fined Rs 12 lakh for the first instance of a breach for a slow over rate. For a second infringement, the fine is doubled to Rs 24 lakh, with each and every player in the playing XI also being fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of their match fees.

In case of a third offence in the same season, the fine amount goes up to Rs 30 lakh with the captain also receiving a one-match ban.

Meanwhile, Pant starred in DC’s win over LSG in Lucknow.

He scored a quickfire 41 to help DC chase down 168 for their second win of the campaign.

Apart from Pant, Jake Fraser-McGurk also shined on debut, smashing 55 off 35 balls.

During the match, Pant went past 3,000 IPL runs, the first DC player to do so.

DC moved to ninth in the 10-team contest with RCB now lying at the bottom. Pant and co. will now face Gujarat Titans away from home.
