Pani puri is hands down one of the most popular street foods in India. All desi food enthusiasts love to stand by the roads and chomp on the crispy puri filled with tangy pani in a single bite. However, in today’s age of endless food experiments, we’ve witnessed some bizarre fusions like Maaza pani puri, egg pani puri, pani puri filled with curry, and even banana puri. Now, in a new twist, a Gujarati vendor is serving pani puri in a truly royal manner. Yes, you read it correctly. These puris are served on a gold plate and are even covered with gold and silver sheets. Surprised? So are we.

Recently, a video shared on Instagram by food vloggers Khushbu Parmar and Manan caught the attention of food enthusiasts. The caption of this now-viral video says, “Gold & Silver Panipuri…”

In the video, the chef starts by presenting the dish on a gold plate, featuring six perfectly fried puris. The preparation involves adding shredded almonds, along with a few whole pieces of cashew and pistachios, to each puri. To enhance the sweetness, a generous amount of honey is added, and the dish is served with thandai in small glasses. Finally, each puri is wrapped in gold and silver foils.

“Actually, love the taste, it’s obviously a sweet dish; the fried poori and other ingredients taste so great together. If you have a sweet tooth, you gonna love it,” reads the reactions of the food vloggers who tried it.

Despite this, most foodies in the comment section seem sceptical of this dish and argue that nothing can replace the authentic taste of traditional pani puri.

“I can experiment with other things, but never with my pani puri,” said one viewer, expressing their loyalty to the original version of the dish.

Another viewer shared their perspective, saying, “Absolutely unnecessary things on this Earth.”

“Why have you turned a spicy food into sweet? What was the need?” questioned a different viewer.

Despite the unpleasant reactions, the unique twist on this beloved street food has certainly sparked a conversation among foodies online. The video has been viewed over 2 million times.
