There has been a lot of criticism regarding the low attendance during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 and the situation was more or less the same during the final between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in Karachi on Monday. Several users took to social media to post pictures from the National Stadium in Karachi and they showed mostly empty stands. The users were not very happy with the lack of attendance and some of them even compared the tournament with the numbers seen in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in India. The WPL final saw an attendance of just over 29,000.

Even during the playoffs, the lack of attendance was criticised by a lot of experts. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram said he was “embarrassed” to see no fans in Karachi for the playoffs.

“It was embarrassing to see no crowd in Karachi. There was no crowd, literally no crowd for last night’s match,” Akram said on A Sports when asked about the empty stands in the stadium.

Islamabad United defeated Multan Sultans by two wickets to clinch Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 title. Martin Guptill was the top-scorer with 50 while Imad Wasim finished the match in style.

Batting first, Usman Khan scored a half-century while Iftikhar Ahmed provided the late flourish as Multan Sultans registered 159 for the lack of nine wickets in 20 overs. Imad Wasim was the pick of the Islamabad United bowlers as he took five wickets and skipper Shadab Khan ended up taking three.
