Airtel 5G Plus has launched in India and these are the smartphones that can support it. Here are all the details.
Airtel 5G is already live in India and if you as a subscriber are willing to access the faster 5G speeds in the available cities, you need to have a compatible smartphone to access. It sounds easy, doesn’t it? Sadly not. Despite 5G being a common thing on 5G smartphones these days, it is not that easy to run 5G on just any smartphone. While the hardware may support 5G, it is up to the smartphone manufacturers to enable 5G reception on your device via software.
Hence, that is the reason that despite buying the iPhone 14 now, which is Apple’s latest smartphone, you will not be able to access 5G connectivity on it. If you are worried why you can’t see 5G on your phone yet, you should hold on and wait for your device manufacturer to enable it.
Below are some of the popular devices that either support Airtel’s 5G network or aren’t ready yet.
Airtel 5G Plus support on popular devices
When it comes to 5G support, no phone covers it as nicely as the iPhone. 5G is supported by default on the iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 series and iPhone SE 3rd Gen. However, Apple is yet to release a software patch that enables 5G reception. Airtel says this will happen soon.
When it comes to the Samsung Galaxy devices, only a handful of phones support it. As of now, Airtel 5G is supported on the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy A53 5G, Galaxy A33 5G, and Galaxy M33. All other 5G phones will need a software update from Samsung.
iQOO:
All iQOO devices in India can run Airtel’s 5G network, right from the iQOO 3 5G (the very first iQOO phone in India back in 2020).
Xiaomi:
All Xiaomi devices in India support 5G. Hence, Airtel customers on Xiaomi 5G handsets can now achieve 5G speeds, starting from the Xiaomi Mi 10 5G.
Oppo:
All of Oppo’s 5G smartphones in India support 5G reception. Hence, Airtel customers can access 5G via Oppo’s 5G handsets right now.
Vivo:
All Vivo handsets, ranging from the budget Y series to flagship X60 series support 5G connectivity from Airtel right now.
Realme:
Realme has also enabled 5G reception for all its 5G enabled smartphones across all price points.
Where can you get Airtel 5G right now?
Airtel 5G can be experienced right now in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Siliguri and Varanasi. Other India cities are expected to be added to 5G coverage over the next few months.
What are the prices for 5G?
At the moment, Airtel 5G is available to Airtel 4G LTE customers at no extra cost. However, when a reliable deployment happens all over major cities, users could be paying more for the faster speeds.
