Virat Kohli has just become the first ever cricketer to reach 50 million followers on Twitter, amidst return to form during the recent Asia Cup.

Virat Kohli has been trending recently due to his return to form with his stunning innings in India’s final Asia Cup Match. However, he is trending today for a different reason altogether. The former Indian cricket team skipper has become the first ever cricketer to reach a staggering 50 million followers on his Twitter platform.

Kohli is already one of the most popular cricketers in the world on-field as well as on social media. He has a massive following across all his social media platforms. In addition to reaching 50 million followers on Twitter, Kohli also has almost 211 million followers on Instagram as well 49 million followers on Facebook.

Despite his massive Instagram following, Kohli has some way to beat the most followed person on Instagram, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has over 477 million followers on the image-sharing platform. Ronaldo is also the most followed athlete on Instagram followed by Lionel Messi with 356 million followers and Virat Kohli grabbing the third spot.

Kohli’s poor form on the pitch has been troubling him as well as the Indian Cricket team. Despite India not winning the Asia Cup 2022, the tournament has proven to be a boon for the Indian team’s star player as he has slowly gotten back into form. Despite having a slow start, Kohli scored 276 runs in the whole tournament including a stunning 122 not out knock against Afghanistan. This was Kohli’s first century since 2019, ending a streak of bad luck for him.

Kohli also scored 2 fifties in the tournament but was not the top scorer in the tournament. He was usurped for the top spot by Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan whose 55-run knock in the final helped him grab the top spot with a total of 281 runs from six matches compared to Kohli’s 276.
