: The Indian benchmark indices were trading firm, up 1 per cent, in Monday’s early deals after opening higher for the sixth straight day, on the back of favourable global cues.
The S&P BSE Sensex clocked a fresh lifetime high and was trading over 550 points, 1.17 per cent, at 51,320 levels. The broader Nifty50 index also opened above the 15,000-mark and was testing the 15,100 level. Mahindra & Mahindra shot up 9 per cent and was the top Sensex gainer, followed by State Bank of India and Axis Bank, up 3 per cent, each.
The Nifty sectoral indices were painted green, with the Nifty Bank index, up 2 per cent, leading the charge.
