Almost all of us have a fetish for our daily cup of coffee (or cups of coffee) but there is always a nagging sense of guilt that makes the experience less than perfect. Time and again, we have been told how caffeine is not good for us, especially coffee, which contains too much of the caffeine. But, contradicting this notion, there have also been some studies that say that coffee is actually good for heart health. And now there’s another study that claims drinking coffee may even lower the risk of death.  

As reported by ANI, the study found that compared to non-coffee drinkers, adults who drank a moderate amount of coffee every day were less likely to die during a 7-year follow up period. The findings stood for both unsweetened and sweetened coffee with sugar. 

Published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, the findings of the study were based on evaluating coffee consumption habits of over 170,000 participants in the UK. It was observed that people who drank any amount of unsweetened coffee were 16 to 21 per cent less likely to die than the participants who did not drink coffee. And those who had 1.5 to 3.5 cups of sweetened coffee in a day were 29 to 31 per cent less likely to die as compared to non-coffee drinkers. It was also added that people who drank sweetened coffee added only about one tsp sugar per cup of coffee.
